Candy is a big item given as tips. Most times it's a box of fancy Frango's or something from Fannie May or the like. Certainly not anything that will break the bank, but still costly enough that it's justifiable as a worthwhile tip.
A reader tell us that he received a box of candy as a tip. One of those Mrs. Field's 3 or 4 piece deals that are found in Target's Dollar Spot. And on the underside of the box? Yep....the price of $1.00 clearly printed on the box.
And the giver must have felt a little apprehensive about just giving this itty-bitty box of candy, so felt that taping a miniature candy cane to the top would make up for the cheapness.
Because you know, that candy cane took that one dollar box of candy and made it worth a whole $1.05 instead. And that changes the whole dynamic of this crappy tip.
Why even bother?
If you don't care that it's obvious your tip could have possibly been paid for with the money found inside the couch cushions, then here's a hint. Most states have instant scratch off lottery tickets that are just a buck. And you know what - they are much more fun AND there's that chance that it could be a winner.
